Orlando VAMC Opened First Lake Nona Campus Clinic Feb. 24

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando VAMC has opened its first primary care clinic within its new Lake Nona Hospital and Clinic Campus. An early morning flag-raising Feb. 24 marked the first offering of primary care services to Central Florida’s Veterans at the new campus.

The Lake Nona Annex, located at northeast corner of Narcoossee and Moss Park Road, moved to the Lake Nona campus, and with it more than 800 Veterans formerly seen at the annex. The Orlando VAMC will continue to move clinics and services to Lake Nona as medical certification allows; for the time being, most Veterans will continue to be seen at the Lake Baldwin facility and other community-based outpatient clinics in Orlando. Veterans will be notified by Orlando VAMC officials when they are transferred to the Lake Nona facility.

The campus activation process is expected to continue throughout the summer, with the emergency department and hospital as the last functions expected to open. Less complex clinical services, those that will not take as long to implement, will be added to the Lake Nona campus as soon as is possible. More complex and new (to Orlando) services will take longer to implement.
