October 21, 2009

On Sept. 26, the Orlando VA Medical Center hosted a one-day Homeless Stand Down for Veterans and their families in Orange County.  The event offered housing, services, and hospitality to 240 homeless Veterans.  Services offered included medical care, showers, meals, shelter, mental health services and counseling.  Veterans were also provided DoD surplus including wet weather supplies and clean clothing.

Dentists from the Orlando VA Medical Center offered Veterans dental screenings.   One of the many medical services offered at the Homeless Stand Down was blood pressure checks.

Lunch was cooked and provided by the Retired Air Force Marine Army Navy Club, Inc - better known as the RAFMAN Club.   Registering each Veteran was a smooth process.
