Chaplain Service

The Orlando VA Medical Center has one Protestant and one Roman Catholic Chaplain. It is their responsibility to provide spiritual care and services for those of their faith, and to facilitate for those of other faiths. A chaplain serves on the Hospice and Palliative End of Life Care Team, and Interdisciplinary Treatment Teams in the Domiciliary (DOM) and the Community Living Center (CLC). At the present time, there are 120 beds in the CLC and 60 beds in the DOM.

Spiritual and pastoral care are provided in the following manner:

  • Spiritual Needs Assessments for residents in the CLC
  • Patient Education for Veteran residents and/or their families on the spiritual care program
  • Provide or facilitate spiritual care opportunities, including Divine Worship Services, Spiritual Devotionals, Catholic Mass, Bible studies, sacramental ministry and pastoral care
  • Leading weekly spirituality and core values classes for Veterans in the DOM
  • Bereavement care
  • Memorial Services and Funeral Services when appropriate
  • Referrals are made for those of Islamic, Jewish, Native American as well as other faiths



Catholic Services: Lake Nona Chapel on Sunday at 10:00am and Monday, Thursday and Friday at 11:30am
Protestant Services: Lake Nona Chapel on Sunday at 11:00am
Ecumenical Devotionals:  CLC Units at 11:00am
Domiciliary Classes: Tuesday at 09:00am and Thursday at 1100 in 2nd Floor Classroom
